Last year, it was reported that Nokia had started work on a new Linux-based operating system to replace S40 on its low-end devices. Called Meltemi, the new platform was said to provide low-end phones with many of the capabilities of smartphones, but require less powerful hardware. Unfortunately, new reports say that Nokia has canned the project before it even got off the ground.
