Twitter adds two-factor login verification via SMS (video)

Twitter just boosted its security with a new two-factor login method. The new option, which was announced in the form of a YouTube video, oddly enough, allows users to require a verification code each time they log in. Once this is enabled, Twitter will send a code to your phone each time you log in from the website or third-party apps. You'll need to type in that temporary code to access your account. It's a process many of us are already … [Read more...]

We're live from SID Display Week 2013 in Vancouver!

The biggest news of the day made its way out of Microsoft's Redmond headquarters a few hours ago, but there's plenty more to see just 150 miles to the north in Vancouver, British Columbia. SID's Display Week exhibition kicked off this morning, giving us an opportunity to get hands-on with some pretty nifty prototypes from LG and Samsung, including that first manufacturer's 5-inch flexible plastic OLED panel and a brilliant 3,200 x 1,800-pixel … [Read more...]

Powermat acquires PowerKiss, plans European wireless charging rollout

Square Cash appears on invite-only site, lets you send money with an email

Square's been venturing beyond those tiny credit card swipers as of late. Last week, the company introduced its nifty $299 Stand POS system for iOS, and now it appears to be branching out to individuals, with a to-be-announced service called Square Cash. There's not much info to share at this point -- TechCrunch recently discovered a dedicated landing page for the new service, which looks to be invite only at this point. There does seem to be an … [Read more...]

Tumblr updates iOS app to match redesigned Android interface

Today's definitely a big day for Tumblr: there's a refreshed iOS app in the iTunes Store! And, well, a bit of other news, too. But you'll hear plenty more about that later -- for now, it's all about mobile. The blogging platform just updated its application for iPad and iPhone, adding that "fancy new post type chooser" that recently made its debut on Android. The design tweak enables one-click access to a variety of post tools, letting you submit … [Read more...]
