At the outset of this month, it appeared that all but two of the 11 founding members of Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, had resigned. Presently, as per Business Insider, the final two co-founders, Manuel Kroiss and Ross Nordeen, have also relinquished their positions.

On Wednesday, Business Insider stated that Kroiss had conveyed to people his intention to depart xAI, and subsequently reported that Nordeen quit the company on Friday.

Musk lately asserted that xAI “was not properly constructed initially,” and consequently, it is currently “being rebuilt from its very foundations.” The venture was recently purchased by Musk’s SpaceX, thus consolidating SpaceX, xAI, and X (previously known as Twitter) under a single corporate entity, all while SpaceX is purportedly preparing for a public offering.

Both Kroiss and Nordeen answered directly to Musk, per Business Insider. Kroiss was heading the firm’s pre-training division, whereas Nordeen served as Musk’s “principal deputy.” Nordeen is said to have joined xAI from Tesla, and he played a role in devising extensive workforce reductions at Twitter following Musk’s takeover of the company in 2022.

TechCrunch has contacted xAI to obtain a statement.
