Since their commencement in the early 1900s, bird feeders have advanced considerably. Currently, it’s hardly unexpected to discover feeding devices equipped with cameras and solar roofs, two prominent characteristics present in models from both BirdBuddy and Netvue. While contemporary hoppers often fetch a high price, Amazon’s Big Spring Sale has brought down the Netvue Birdfy Feeder to $135.99 (a saving of $124) and the Birdbuddy Pro to $179.99 (a saving of $120), representing some of the most favorable rates we’ve observed.

Fundamentally, both intelligent bird feeders are engineered to enable surveillance of your impending avian visitors, providing capabilities for still photographs, video, alerts, and identification driven by artificial intelligence. Nonetheless, Birdfy’s product compromises on hardware specifications to reduce expenses. With a 155-degree scope, it boasts the broadest field of view among all models; its video resolution, however, tops out at 1080p, in contrast to the Birdbuddy Pro, which facilitates the recording of pristine 2K footage (including slow-motion). Furthermore, its accompanying solar panel isn’t directly incorporated into the detachable roof as seen with the Pro, consequently, its aesthetic appeal post-installation is somewhat diminished.

From a software perspective, both feeders, activated by motion, are compatible with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and incorporate resilient, intuitive applications designed to recognize species and notify you upon the presence of a bird. Birdbuddy’s application proves somewhat more dynamic and powerful, provided one opts for a Birdbuddy Premium subscription ($69.99 annually). This subscription grants access to supplementary details through an AI-driven chat, boundless video retention, and the functionality to monitor repeat visitors, alongside the opportunity to observe Birdbuddy streams globally. Nevertheless, Birdfy’s avian recognition program remains complimentary indefinitely — at least with the specific package presented here — thereby eliminating the need for recurrent subscription payments merely to utilize core functionalities. Anticipate a high volume of alerts.
