During ‘The Claman Countdown,’ FOX Business presenter Liz Claman engages in discourse with chief executives Ed Bastian and Andy Jassy concerning a fresh collaboration between Delta Airlines and Amazon, intending to provide swifter and more economical airborne Wi-Fi to patrons.
A substantial enhancement to the airborne Wi-Fi experience is underway as Amazon and Delta Air Lines forge a partnership, ultimately granting travelers the capability to conduct video conversations aloft at an altitude of 30,000 feet.
On Tuesday, the leaders of these corporations declared thatAmazon Leo, the enterprise’s high-velocity satellite internet offering, will be made available onDelta flightscommencing in 2028.
“It will offer speeds multiple times greater than anything we currently possess. And its pricing will be exceptionally economical,” stated Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian in an exclusive joint interview broadcast on Tuesday’s “The Claman Countdown.”
“And that refers solely to the Wi-Fi. When one contemplates what Amazon as a corporation and Delta as an entity represent in terms of customer satisfaction, and what we can then achieve collaboratively on board, it will truly astound individuals.”

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy described the novel Wi-Fi infrastructure as a “revolutionary” advancement, with Bastian adding that the cost will be “considerably reduced.”
“It is poised to empower us to deliver a substantially superior experience for clients in terms of velocities, two, three, four times what they presently encounter on Delta,” Bastian elaborated.
“We are committed to investing whatever is necessary to construct an outstanding low-earth orbit satellite network that boasts exceptional performance at a modest expense,” Jassy affirmed.
Amazon Leo leverages low-earth orbit satellites to furnish high-velocity internet service to remote and rural locales, a technological advantage Bastian believes is crucial for sustaining Delta’s competitive edge.
“We have stood as the forefront provider of complimentary, rapid Wi-Fi within our sector, not just in the U.S., incidentally, but globally,” Bastian informed FOX Business.
“We already possess 1,200 aircraft, practically our entire fleet, already outfitted withfree, swift Wi‑Fi, a quantity likely surpassing that of many other airlines combined today. However, we must retain our leadership position. And the technology is progressing swiftly.”

Bastian cited his “profound assurance” in Delta’s bond with Amazon as a pivotal element in the genesis of the alliance.
“We are already significant collaborators; we transport Amazon personnel across the globe,” the Delta CEO expounded.
Delta currently employs Amazon’s innovations, including Fuse and Amazon WorkSpaces (AWS).
“Andy and I have been acquainted for a considerable period, and our respective teams are well-familiar with one another. Consequently, a discussion naturally arose a few months prior… simply contemplating what we might potentially achieve in concert.”
Prominent airlines, such as Alaska and United, utilize Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite system, which operates in a fashion akin to Amazon Leo’s, in extending internet connectivity to remote regions.
Bastian asserted that Delta’s newly-enhanced Wi-Fi service, in partnership with Amazon, will present formidable competition to Musk’s program.
“I anticipate these figures will be highly competitive against Starlink, and the expenditure will be considerably less than what we currently disburse,” he conveyed to FOX Business presenter Liz Claman.
Bastian indicated thatonboard video conferencingis a prospect but will have restrictions upon its implementation.

“[Passengers] will possess the capacity to do so. However, we will not permit actual oral exchanges at this time. We are not activating that feature,” he explained. “Individuals will be able to partake in online video meetings, but they will lack the auditory faculty to vocalize.”
“They will be able to engage in a dialogue and participate. There exist numerous business utilities that Andy alluded to, which we will collaboratively develop with Amazon in this rapidly evolving domain of AI and commerce.”
Amazon Leo is slated for installation in Delta aircraft beginning in 2028, and the two corporations are already investigating avenues to introduce supplementary amenities to the passenger experience.
“We possess numerous strategies to harness the capabilities that both of our enterprises offer individually and to craft an extraordinary experience for Delta clientele,” Jassy articulated.
