Jorge Jesus’ men enjoyed a convincing 5-1 victory over Iraqi side Al Zawraa in the AFC Champions League Two on Christmas Eve but now turn their attention to domestic matters and try to remain on course for their first Pro League crown since 2019.
Boss Jorge Jesus was in confident mood ahead of the game.
He said: “We are top of the league and top in Asia, and our team is developing, but we still need to improve further. The winter transfer window will open soon, and we will see what happens during it.”
Al-Akhdoud sit third from bottom having won just one of their first nine games.
