China has began sea trials for its first Kind 076 amphibious assault ship, Sichuan (Hull 51), after the vessel departed Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard on the morning of 14 November to start navigation testing, in keeping with the Chinese language Ministry of Nationwide Protection.
In its assertion, the ministry mentioned that “at about 9 a.m. on November 14, 2025, China’s first new era amphibious assault ship, the Sichuan (Hull 51), set sail… to hold out its first navigation check mission.”
It added that “this sea trial will primarily check and confirm the reliability and stability of the facility, electrical and different methods of the amphibious assault ship Sichuan.”
The ministry additionally said that development has progressed on schedule because the ship’s launch in December 2024, noting that “it has efficiently accomplished mooring checks and tools set up and debugging, and has met the technical circumstances for sea trials.”
In line with the organisation, Sichuan has a “full load displacement of over 40,000 tonnes” and contains a twin island superstructure with a full size flight deck.
