Cal has agreed in precept to a five-year deal to make Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi the college’s subsequent head coach, sources advised ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Thursday.
The college is predicted to announce the deal quickly.
Lupoi performed at Cal from 2000-2005 earlier than beginning his teaching profession with the Bears in 2008 underneath former coach Jeff Tedford.
Lupoi has spent the previous 4 seasons as Dan Lanning’s defensive coordinator with the Geese. Earlier than Oregon, he spent three years as a defensive position coach within the NFL, following a five-year stint on Nick Saban’s employees at Alabama (2014-18) with the ultimate season as defensive coordinator.
