President Donald Trump has agreed to a request for an extension on a proposed 50% tariff on imports from the European Union, which he initially threatened would go into impact on June 1.
In a Fact Social put up on Sunday, Trump mentioned he acquired a name from European Fee President Ursula Von der Leyen requesting an extension on the June 1 tariff hike.
“I agreed to the extension — July 9, 2025 — It was my privilege to take action,” Trump wrote. “The Fee President mentioned that talks will start quickly. Thanks on your consideration to this matter!”
