The Catalan club were hosting a European fixture at their famous ground for the first time in three years
Jules Kounde scored a second-half brace as Barcelona came from behind to beat Eintracht Frankfurt as Champions League football made a return to the Camp Nou.
The Frenchman netted from two headers in just three minutes for the LaLiga leaders as they turned the tie on its head after Ansgar Knauff had given the Bundesliga side a shock lead before the break.
Barcelona, hoping to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea last time out, were playing a fixture in Europe’s elite club competition at their iconic home for the first time in three years following a major redevelopment project.
And they were doing so requiring a much-needed victory to keep their hopes of automatic qualification to the next stage alive.
The result moves Hansi Flick’s side up to 14th in the 36-team table, just two points adrift of the top eight.
For Frankfurt, meanwhile, defeat sees them drop to 30th having not picked up a victory since matchday one of the competition.
On their first European night back home, Barcelona were predictably dominant in possession during the opening stages.
Inside 10 minutes, they had the ball in the back of the net courtesy of Robert Lewandowski, but the competition’s third all-time leading scorer was adjudged to have been offside following Raphinha’s cross.
Then, against the run of play, the visitors took the lead in the 21st minute when Knauff finished off a rapid counter after some fine work from Nathaniel Brown.
Barca resumed their dominance with the ball but failed to carve out any meaningful chances with Frankfurt defending doggedly.
Ellyes Skhiri came close to doubling the visitors’ advantage on the stroke of half-time, however, the midfielder’s curling effort sailed narrowly over.
Flick introduced Marcus Rashford after the break and it took five minutes for the Manchester United loanee to stamp his authority on the contest.
It was his ball in from the left that found the head of Kounde, the Frenchman nodding in to level the score.
Three minutes later, Kounde completed the comeback in similar fashion. This time it was Lamine Yamal’s delivery that found the full-back’s head, a sweeping ball to the far post that was met by the 27-year-old.
With the hosts’ tails up, Raphinha then drove a fierce strike that Michael Zetterer in the Frankfurt goal did well to hold.
Substitute Ferran Torres’ fizzed effort wide proved to be the last real action of the match, with Barcelona seeing out the game to claim a vital victory.
