New York Mets pitcher David Peterson was added to the Nationwide League roster for the All-Star Sport on Thursday, changing San Francisco Giants left-hander Robbie Ray.
It is the primary All-Star choice for Peterson, who’s 6-4 with a 3.06 ERA in 18 begins. The lefty tossed seven-plus innings of one-run ball within the Mets’ 3-1 loss at Baltimore on Thursday.
Peterson is the fourth All-Star from the Mets, becoming a member of shortstop Francisco Lindor, first baseman Pete Alonso and nearer Edwin Diaz.
Ray goes to be inactive for Tuesday evening’s Midsummer Basic at Atlanta. He’s slated to pitch for the Giants on Sunday in opposition to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 33-year-old Ray is 9-3 with a 2.63 ERA in 19 begins this season. He received the 2021 AL Cy Younger Award with Toronto BLue Jays.
The Giants have three All-Stars: Ray, right-hander Logan Webb and reliever Randy Rodriguez.
With Peterson’s addition, there are actually seven complete replacements and 72 gamers — together with 22 first-timers — between the 2 All-Star groups.
