The Commander of NATO Mission Iraq (NMI), Main Basic Christophe Hintzy of France, briefed NATO Secretary Basic Mark Rutte and allied ambassadors in Brussels on the mission’s continued cooperation with Iraqi authorities, NATO stated on Wednesday.
In response to the organisation, Main Basic Hintzy outlined progress made via NMI’s advisory and capacity-building work, describing “fruitful cooperation developed with Iraqi counterparts” and highlighting the mission’s contribution to “lasting safety within the nation.”
NATO Mission Iraq is a non-combat advisory mission established on the request of the Iraqi authorities. Its function is to assist Iraq construct “extra sustainable, clear, inclusive and efficient safety establishments and forces” to strengthen nationwide stability, counter terrorism and stop the re-emergence of ISIS.
The alliance stated Iraqi authorities have recognized key areas of cooperation with NMI, together with safety schooling, logistics, cyber defence, budgeting, disaster and catastrophe administration, and good governance.
NATO reaffirmed that every one actions beneath the mission are carried out “in full respect of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
