Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) is using a five-fight profitable streak since dropping a cut up determination to Tommy Fury in February 2023. Paul defeated former heavyweight king Mike Tyson by unanimous determination in November.
Chavez (54-6-1, 34 KOs) is a former WBC middleweight world champion. He gained the title with a majority determination win towards Sebastian Zbik in June 2011, and made three profitable defenses. Chavez might be preventing at cruiserweight for the third consecutive battle.
There’s so much at stake for Paul on this battle. With a victory over Chavez, Paul might enter the WBC rankings at 200 kilos, getting a step nearer to his aim of preventing for a world title.
“The WBC rankings committee has been following Jake Paul’s profession,” WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman instructed ESPN. “If he defeats Chavez, and relying on how the battle performs out, the committee will make the choice. It’s extremely probably [Paul will be ranked] if he wins convincingly.”
Additionally on the cardboard, Gilberto Ramirez places his WBO and WBA cruiserweight titles on the road towards Yuniel Dorticos, and Corridor of Famer Holly Holm makes her return to boxing after 12 years away. She faces Yolanda Vega in a light-weight bout.
