TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Hunter Bigge was carted off the sphere in a daunting scene Thursday evening after he was struck by a foul ball within the dugout.
Within the prime of the seventh inning, Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman fouled a pitch into the Rays’ dugout and it hit Bigge, a 27-year-old right-hander at present on the injured checklist.
Emergency medical personnel rapidly arrived to take care of Bigge. After a number of quiet minutes as Rays gamers knelt within the area, Bigge was positioned on a backboard and carted off.
Bigge, on the 15-day injured checklist with a lat pressure, gave a thumbs-up gesture because the Steinbrenner Discipline crowd rose for a standing ovation. The sport resumed after an eight-minute delay with Baltimore main 4-1.
