Alexander Isak is poised to rejoin team training tomorrow, making him available to aid Liverpool’s pursuit of trophies during the season’s concluding period.

The Sweden international has faced a challenging inaugural season at Anfield since transferring from Newcastle last summer, having been sidelined since December after sustaining a fractured fibula and an injured ankle while netting a goal at Tottenham.

The £125 million club record-signing is still progressing well towards making his comeback in the next few weeks, with the aim of also featuring in the World Cup this summer, a possibility enhanced after his nation secured qualification last night through their 3-2 victory over Poland in the play-offs.

Reds manager Arne Slot informed Liverpoolfc.com: “I believe Alex is in excellent spirits because Sweden qualified for the World Cup yesterday evening, and additionally, he’s set to resume group training for the first time tomorrow.

“After toiling diligently for three or four months, approximately, and then rejoining collective drills, that’s deeply satisfying for everyone. So, Alex is, in that sense, in a favorable position.”

Absence of Potent Forward Isak Has Challenged Liverpool

Liverpool’s wastefulness in attack, hindering their prospects of a top-four finish, has made Isak’s unavailability acutely noticeable.

“Naturally, it’s only his initial training with the team after a period of three to four months on the sidelines, but it’s beneficial to have him rejoin because we all recognize the calibre of player we acquired – an exceptional forward,” Slot further stated.

“Therefore, having him back in a squad that typically creates numerous opportunities – even if he might not immediately start – but to have him for the final two months, I believe, is extremely advantageous for us.”

Liverpool remain contenders in the Champions League, where they are scheduled to face Paris Saint-Germain in a two-match last-eight encounter, while they will confront Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
