However on Thursday, the White Home was silent in regards to the vacation. White Home Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned that she wasn’t “monitoring [Trump’s] signature on a proclamation at this time,” after she was requested whether or not Trump would commemorate the vacation.

Though the vacation has been criticized for being politicized up to now, Juneteenth proponents advocate for it, calling it a patriotic and freedom-loving day of celebration.
