Although the connection linking Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg was previously contentious enough for Musk to dare Zuckerberg to a physical confrontation, their rapport had improved by the nascent period of the second Trump presidency — based on legal papers unveiled on Friday.
According to Engadget’s report, these messages exchanged by Zuckerberg and Musk came to light in the context of Musk’s legal action against OpenAI. The communications were dispatched on February 3, 2025, approximately when Zuckerberg guested on Joe Rogan’s podcast to lament that the American corporate landscape had grown “emasculated.”
With regard to Musk’s vigorous efforts to curtail government expenditures via the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Zuckerberg messaged, “It appears DOGE is advancing. I have our groups poised to remove material disclosing personal information or menacing individuals within your group. Inform me if there is anything additional I can assist with.”
Musk responded with a heart emoticon, subsequently inquired, “Would you be receptive to the proposal of making an offer for OpenAI alongside me and a few others?”
As a reply, the Meta chief executive proposed talking about the concept by telephone. Based on prior disclosed papers, Zuckerberg did not, in fact, commit to participate in Musk’s proposal.
