Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti maintains his concentration on strategy over outcomes following a 2-1 loss to France at Gillette Stadium, the home of NFL team the New England Patriots.
The Seleção found it difficult to establish themselves against Les Bleus, and the former Real Madrid manager is anticipating an improvement in another significant encounter against Croatia at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
Ancelotti has encountered disapproval leading up to this international break, primarily centered around his choice to omit star player Neymar from the roster due to persistent fitness concerns.
“I’m satisfied with the game because the team competed, fought with good moves,” Ancelotti stated after suffering defeat to France. “We don’t have to be happy with the result. Raphinha had good movements without the ball and Vinicius is always dangerous.”
When pressed further on the loud demands from supporters and iconic figures to reintegrate Neymar into the squad, the Italian coach resolutely dismissed the external pressure.
“We should talk about those who were here, who have played, who have given everything, who have shown their face, have worked hard and I am satisfied,” Ancelotti insisted.
The current challenge does not become less difficult. Croatia reach Orlando after showcasing exceptional skill in securing victories, overcoming Colombia 2-1 in their respective Thursday match.
Featuring a roster of seasoned players like Luka Modrić with a robustly energetic youth contingent, Zlatko Dalić’s men have remained unbeaten in their previous nine games.
Squad updates for Brazil vs Croatia
Brazil’s medical staff is busy following the demanding encounter with France. Barcelona winger Raphinha could not return for the second half because of a muscle injury. Ancelotti stated the medical staff are assessing his condition, but it is highly improbable that he will be risked.
Additionally, right-back Wesley is dealing with a slight muscle injury, and Arsenal defender Gabriel pulled out of the squad entirely before the break due to right knee discomfort.
Croatia reports no new injury worries following their demanding 2-1 win over Colombia. Real Madrid midfield virtuoso Luka Modrić entered as a substitute in that match to achieve his 195th international cap and is widely anticipated to rejoin the initial lineup to confront his former club manager.
