Best Mesh Wi-Fi Systems (2026): Netgear, Asus, Amazon, and More

TP-Link Deco BE85 (2-Pack) at $800: TP-Link’s inaugural Wi-Fi 7 mesh system was the Deco BE85. Serving as the top-tier model, it delivers unparalleled performance, providing twice the data capacity compared to the less expensive BE63 mentioned previously. Every router features four automatically detecting WAN/LAN Ethernet ports, a pair of 10-Gbps ports (one of which is an SFP combination), two 2.5-Gbps ports, and a USB 3.0 connection. My evaluations showed it provided extensive coverage and superb functionality; however, unless your household possesses an extremely rapid multi-gig internet link and numerous Wi-Fi 7 gadgets, it will likely be excessive for your needs.

Netgear Orbi 970 (2-Pack) for $1,437: The tri-band Wi-Fi 7 Netgear Orbi 970 undeniably stands out as a remarkable quad-band mesh system. It demonstrated exceptional speed and dependability, provides numerous high-velocity Ethernet ports, and offers genuinely broad coverage. Its user-friendly application incorporates extensive security features (complimentary for the initial year). While I encountered some initial minor difficulties, its exorbitant cost is truly the factor that deters me from endorsing this mesh. Comparable performance can be obtained at a lower expenditure. Complete parental control functionalities also necessitate an additional payment, as they are now a distinct subscription apart from the security program. This mesh system is advisable only for individuals residing in spacious homes, utilizing multi-gig connections, and having substantial financial resources.

Linksys Velop Pro 6E (2-Pack) for $300: After successful deployment, this tri-band (2.4-GHz, 5-GHz, and 6-GHz) Wi-Fi 6E setup provides an admirable range and satisfactory data rates. Its pricing is competitive, often experiencing reductions (avoid paying the full amount), and it includes fundamental parental oversight tools along with useful functionalities such as device preference setting and a visitor network. However, I experienced significant problems during its setup process. The application repeatedly crashed mid-process, compelling me to perform factory resets on the routers. Despite that, integrating the nodes required several efforts. Furthermore, it lacks backward compatibility with previous Velop “Intelligent Mesh” systems, given that this is a “Cognitive Mesh” system.

TP-Link XE200 (2-Pack) at $450: This tri-band mesh arrangement (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz) achieved some of the highest velocities I’ve witnessed, provided consistently extensive coverage, and surpassed all rivals in proximate range tests. A 50-GB game was downloaded in a mere 20 minutes without any problems surfacing throughout the evaluation. Since it utilizes the 6-GHz band for its backhaul, careful consideration of placement is necessary; endeavor to maintain line-of-sight between routers and keep them within 50 feet (or optimally, link them with an Ethernet cable). The application is straightforward and includes most desired functionalities, yet it lacks an internet speed measurement tool, and real-time security as well as comprehensive parental controls require paid subscriptions. Although the XE200 outperforms the XE70 Pro mentioned earlier, its placement here is due to its cost. It is simply too costly for the majority of people, though it has recently experienced substantial price reductions, so remain vigilant for advantageous offers.

TP-Link Deco X50 PoE (3-Pack) for $300: This discreet, puck-shaped router is suitable for mounting on walls or ceilings in areas where a mesh system relying on wireless backhaul would be inadequate. An Ethernet cable connection to the router is mandatory, but due to its PoE support, this cable also supplies electrical power. This dual-band router (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) features a 2.5-Gbps WAN port and a 1-gigabit LAN port, capable of spanning an area up to 2,500 square feet.

Gryphon AX router

Gryphon AX (2-Pack) for $499: Subsequent to some difficulties during the configuration of this tri-band Wi-Fi 6 system, I observed that it functioned effectively and managed numerous data streams and gadgets seamlessly. While the application exhibits minor glitches, it proudly offers extensive parental supervision functionalities. Should you desire augmented security, advertisement suppression, and the capability to direct network traffic via your router when you or your household members are away from home—thereby enabling continuous oversight of your children’s internet usage—you must acquire Gryphon’s Premium plan for an additional $8 monthly or $90 annually. However, unless such a degree of supervision is essential, this system proves excessively costly and did not equal our premier choice for either speed or coverage.

TP-Link Deco X50 4G for £197 and Deco X50 5G for £280: These routers function identically to standard dual-band routers (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), yet they also incorporate Nano SIM card slots, catering to individuals residing in regions with rapid mobile networks, seeking a backup solution for inconsistent internet service, or requiring temporary Wi-Fi access or connectivity in locations where a fixed line installation is unfeasible. Configuration is straightforward; they come with TP-Link’s paid services for security and parental supervision, and each device is equipped with a single 2.5-Gbps WAN port, two gigabit LAN ports, and two external antenna connectors. Their performance will be contingent upon your local mobile network, and an external antenna is requisite to achieve optimal speeds. When evaluated with a gigabit internet connection, they demonstrated rapid and dependable operation, capable of providing coverage for up to 2,500 square feet. Currently, their availability is restricted to the UK and Europe.

Not every product can emerge as a victor. The following are the mesh systems that presented difficulties during my evaluation or which I cannot endorse for various reasons.
