UK Ministry of Defence Awards Torpedo Maintenance Contract to BAE Systems
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on August 4 a contract for the repair and maintenance of the Royal Navy’s torpedo inventory. The agreement, awarded to BAE Systems, is scheduled to run from July 2026 to June 2029. It encompasses both types of torpedoes currently in service with the Royal Navy, which are deployed across submarines, surface warships, and maritime patrol aircraft. The contract specifically addresses the maintenance and repair of the Royal Navy’s Spearfish heavy torpedo and Sting Ray light torpedo systems.
