Lusail Stadium is slated to stage the match.
UEFA is not presently evaluating different locations for the Finalissima; a determination regarding relocating the match from Qatar is anticipated next week, given the intensifying unrest in the Middle East.
The Finalissima, a contest pitting European Championship victors Spain against Copa America champions Argentina, is set to occur on March 26.
Lusail Stadium, which staged a breathtaking 2022 World Cup final between Argentina and France—a match La Albiceleste won via a penalty shootout after a 3-3 tie—had been designated as the site for this encounter.
Nonetheless, Qatar is among several Gulf nations that have been subjected to actions from its adjacent nation, Iran, following persistent aerial bombardments by the United States and Israel. This development has fueled conjecture that the Finalissima will be relocated.
Yet, in an announcement, a UEFA spokesperson indicated that discussions concerning a relocation of the site are, at present, untimely.
“We are cognizant of the conjecture regarding the Finalissima, considering the developments in the region,” the declaration stated.
“Negotiations are underway with the regional hosts who have undertaken a significant endeavor to ensure the game’s triumph. An ultimate determination is foreseen towards the close of next week.
“Currently, no other locations are under evaluation. We will not be providing additional remarks pending a ruling.”
