LOS ANGELES — Following a career spanning eight NFL campaigns, Los Angeles Rams cornerback Darious Williams has announced his retirement.
On Saturday, the organization declared it had added Williams to its reserve/retired roster.
Williams, 32, experienced two periods with the Rams, accumulating six seasons of play in Los Angeles. He was a member of the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI-winning squad during the 2021 campaign.
Across 100 contests during the regular season, Williams tallied 12 interceptions, broke up 77 passes, and recorded 306 tackles overall.
Subsequent to claiming the Super Bowl title in 2021, Williams inked a three-year agreement with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Following two seasons, he was cut and then secured a fresh contract with the Rams. That particular contract still had a year left for Williams.
Concurrent with Williams’ decision to step down, four Rams cornerbacks are poised to enter free agency. The Los Angeles squad bolstered its cornerback corps on Wednesday, by consenting to a transaction for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
