Reports from NFL Network indicate that the Washington Commanders have committed to bringing in K’Lavon Chaisson on a single-season contract valued at $12 million. This move further bolsters their revamped pass-rushing unit with an additional edge defender.
Set to commence his seventh professional football campaign in 2026, Chaisson arrives following a standout season played for the New England Patriots.
The erstwhile initial-round draftee is slated to become part of a Washington defensive unit that has also brought in pass rusher Odafe Oweh and linebacker Leo Chenal via free agency during the current week.
Chaisson, at 26 years old, secured a moderate one-year pact in New England last offseason with a foundational worth of $3 million, potentially reaching $5 million. Across 16 contests in the regular season and four in the postseason, he amassed 43 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 28 hits on the quarterback, and three forced turnovers.
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel lauded Chaisson’s dedication, velocity, and closing ability, coupled with his eagerness to contribute to the punt-protection/coverage unit.
Chaisson was selected in the initial round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He accumulated merely five sacks during his four-year tenure with the Jaguars before replicating that figure with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024.
