Bayern’s leader remained unyielding.

Honorary president Uli Hoeness firmly stated that Bayern Munich would not transfer Michael Olise to Liverpool, even if the Merseyside club were to propose an offer of €200 million.

Various reports have indicated the Premier League outfit is prepared to break its transfer record once more to acquire the French sensation, who has truly enjoyed a remarkable season under Vincent Kompany’s management.

Last summer, Liverpool disbursed £446m, shattering the British transfer record to acquire Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak for £125m. Additionally, they secured Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £100m and Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt for a sum potentially reaching £82m.

Although Ekitike has flourished, Wirtz has experienced an inconsistent campaign. Meanwhile, Isak was absent for much of the season owing to ankle and leg injuries he incurred in December, precisely when netting his mere third goal for the team.

Liverpool currently occupy fifth place in the Premier League, meaning Champions League participation next season is far from assured. Hoeness remains unwavering that Bayern is not inclined to aid their rebound the following season by releasing Olise.

“Liverpool has already invested €500 million this year and is experiencing a dismal campaign,” Hoeness remarked to reporters during the KI Festival “data:unplugged”.

“We will not assist in them improving their performance next year.

“We engage in this sport for our supporters. With 430,000 associates and millions of fans globally, it offers little benefit to them if we possess €200m in our accounts yet deliver inferior football every Saturday as a consequence.”

Reasons Liverpool Seeks Olise Following His Exceptional Bayern Season

While Liverpool has struggled in the Premier League, Bayern is poised to keep its Bundesliga title and ranks among the front-runners to clinch the Champions League. Having also advanced to the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal, Bayern is aiming for a triple crown.

Olise, acquired from Crystal Palace in 2024, has proven instrumental to their achievements.

He boasts 28 direct contributions to goals in the Bundesliga (11 goals, 17 assists). In addition, he has eight (three goals, five assists) in the Champions League and an additional three (two goals, one assist) in the Pokal.

Capable of operating both as a right-winger and a number 10, the 24-year-old might be perceived by Liverpool as the perfect successor for Mohamed Salah, who has confirmed his departure from the club at season’s end.

Salah has recorded 19 direct contributions to goals across all competitions this season, his impact significantly declining since he led Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2024-25. The Egyptian achieved an unprecedented 47 goal involvements in the league last season, a record for a 38-game Premier League campaign.

Olise has already demonstrated his capability in the Premier League, tallying 29 goal contributions throughout his last two seasons with Palace prior to his transfer to Bayern.

Consequently, the France forward perfectly fits the profile Liverpool seeks in a prospective Salah replacement. Given his pace, capacity to generate chances for teammates, and his danger when drifting infield from the right flank, Olise would undeniably be an excellent acquisition for the Reds.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, however, such a high-value transfer appears improbable for them to accomplish.
