Frank ready to face ‘physical’ Slavia but delivers more bad injury news for Tottenham

Thomas Frank says he is keen for Tottenham to build momentum ahead of their Champions League clash with Slavia Prague on Tuesday.

Spurs won only their second home game in the Premier League at the weekend, beating Brentford 2-0.

It was their first victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since the opening weekend against Burnley.

But Frank has no time to reflect on a positive day against his old side. Instead, he must turn his attention to Europe.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “It’s always good to build momentum, to get more consistent performances.

“We will try to build on that tomorrow night, we have a good opportunity against a Slavia Prague side who are very direct and physical, man mark all over the pitch.

“That can particularly make it difficult for us. It is about us making sure we perform well, with forwardness and directness in attacking play.”

Unfortunately, the head coach’s good mood was slightly tainted by a negative injuiry update.

He added: “Destiny Udogie picked up a hamstring injury at end of Newcastle game, he is out until January. Brennan Johnson is touch and go.

“There will be a bit of rotation to make sure everyone is full of energy and freshness.”

Kudus opens up on life at Spurs

Winger Mohammed Kudus has hit the ground running at Spurs. He joined Frank in the press conference, and was quizzed on life in North London.

After being asked on how he felt following Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero’s furious reaction to him nearly costing the team a goal at the weekend, he said: “I think it’s very important to be honest with each other and demand a lot from each other.

“It was a moment in the game where emotions are everywhere. Definitely they demand a lot from not just me but the whole team. It’s part of the game. I just get on with it and kept playing.”

He was also met with a few questions about the World Cup, where Ghana will face England.

He added: “To qualify for the World Cup alone is a big statement from us and shows what we can do. There’s still a bit of time to go so we just focus here for now then definitely we prepare for that – but it’s good to have England in the group.

“It’ll be interesting [to face England], I’m looking forward to it. We are pretty much aware of the side we will be facing. We will definitely be up for it and we will be ready.”
