Hathaway is, of course, not alone in being a big-name Hollywood star supporting an English football team.
Russell Crowe of Gladiator fame is a big Leeds supporter and part owner of the club.
The Australian explained last year that he has been following Leeds since the 1970s, saying: “In the middle of the day you had either a gardening show, someone doing a yoga show, or Match of the Day.
“So we tuned in and watched Match of the Day and Leeds were quite a successful team in the early 70s.
“They were on the TV quite a lot and my brother chose Liverpool and I chose Leeds.”
Meanwhile, fellow actor Tom Hanks supports Aston Villa and has been seen at their games, while Catherine Zeta-Jones, star of Ocean’s Twelve among other films, supports her hometown team Swansea City.
In 2015 she filled her swimming pool at her New York home with swans to celebrate a win against Manchester United.
