Kader Kohou, a previous Miami Dolphins cornerback, is set to join the Kansas City Chiefs, representatives David Canter and Ness Mugrabi apprised ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques on Thursday.
The Kansas City Chiefs are seeking cornerback reinforcement, having recently forfeited two key defensive starters to the Los Angeles Rams — Trent McDuffie via a trade agreement and Jaylen Watson through free agency.
Kohou, 27, had been poised to hold onto his first-string position at nickel cornerback with the Dolphins in 2025; however, he sustained a partially torn ACL before the season commenced. This ailment caused him to miss the entire year.
The Texas A&M-Commerce alumnus joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and was a starter in 38 contests over his initial three seasons. This adaptable defensive back operated as both an outside and slot cornerback and functioned as a consistent tackler for the Dolphins’ secondary, logging 180 total stops.
He achieved the maiden interception of his career against Aaron Rodgers when the Dolphins welcomed the Green Bay Packers during his inaugural season.
Throughout his NFL tenure, Kohou boasts three interceptions, 28 defended passes, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
