From ANTERSELVA, Italy — Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, the singular biathlete to strike all 20 targets during Friday’s 15-kilometer mass start competition, earned Norway its 17th gold medal at the Milan Cortina Olympics. This accomplishment shattered the existing record for the highest number of golds secured by one nation in a single Winter Games.
Norway itself had previously established this benchmark, garnering 16 gold medals at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Sturla Holm Laegreid, Dale-Skjevdal’s teammate, who is now widely known for his televised confession of infidelity, secured the silver medal on Friday, finishing behind him.
