The Denver Broncos are set to employ a fresh chief offensive strategist during the 2026 season.
On Tuesday at the NFL’s scouting combine, Coach Sean Payton revealed his intention to relinquish this responsibility to the freshly designated offensive coordinator, Davis Webb.
Nevertheless, Payton remarked that he would still dictate a portion of the offensive calls during games.
“I anticipate he will perform exceptionally well in this capacity… I would only implement such a change [ceding playcalling] if I perceived it would genuinely benefit our squad,” Payton conveyed to journalists.
Recognized as among the NFL’s premier offensive intellects, Payton has served as the offensive signal-caller throughout his tenure as head coach for both the New Orleans Saints and the Broncos.
Webb was elevated to offensive coordinator during the current offseason, subsequent to the Broncos dismissing Joe Lombardi in the wake of their defeat to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.
