Upon entering Microsoft’s premises as an intern in June 1988, I could never have foreseen the innovations I’d contribute to, the clientele we’d cater to, or the remarkable teams I’d be fortunate enough to join. It has been an incredible journey and a genuine honor throughout my career.
In the previous autumn, I informed Satya that I was contemplating my departure to embark on a new phase in my life. From that point, we concurred on managing this change purposefully, guaranteeing steadiness, and fortifying the groundwork we’ve established. Xbox has always been beyond a mere enterprise. It’s a dynamic collective of gamers, developers, and groups who are profoundly invested in our creations and their development methods. Consequently, it merits a well-considered, intentional strategy for the future.
This day heralds a thrilling new era for Microsoft Gaming as Asha Sharma assumes the position of CEO, and I am privileged to be the first to greet her to this remarkable collective. My collaboration with her over recent months has instilled profound assurance in me. She demonstrates authentic inquisitiveness, clear insight, and profound dedication to comprehending gamers, developers, and the choices influencing our trajectory. We recognize this as a significant juncture for our supporters, collaborators, and staff, and we are dedicated to ensuring its success. I’ll continue in a consultative capacity through the summer to facilitate a seamless transition.
I am also appreciative of the robustness of our development division. Matt Booty and our studio teams persist in developing an exceptional collection, and I have complete trust in the guidance and innovative drive amongst our worldwide development centers. I wish to commend Matt on his advancement to EVP and Chief Content Officer.
In conjunction with this change, Sarah Bond has opted to depart Microsoft to commence a fresh phase. Sarah played a pivotal role throughout a critical era for Xbox, molding our platform approach, growing Game Pass and remote gaming, assisting with fresh hardware introductions, and directing some of the most crucial junctures in our narrative. I am thankful for her collaboration and the influence she exerted, and I extend my sincerest good wishes for her future endeavors.
Above all, to all personnel within Microsoft Gaming, I wish to express my gratitude. I’ve gained immense knowledge from this group and collective, developed in parallel with you, and been perpetually motivated by the ingenuity, bravery, and compassion you demonstrate towards users, innovators, and each other on a daily basis.
