Heckler & Koch UK has completed the takeover of Globe Engineering, a specialized CNC machining enterprise situated in Braintree, Essex, signaling its entry into in-country production of armament system parts, the corporation announced.
Formally finalized on 23 March, this acquisition grants Heckler & Koch UK an indigenous manufacturing capacity for components, broadening its function beyond mere maintenance and enhancement tasks for firearms.
The agreement is anticipated to be brought to prominence during a visit by Sir James Cleverly MP, concurrently, the British Envoy to Germany, Andrew Mitchell CMG, characterized the initiative as “the tangible manifestation of our mutual pledges on security as outlined in the Trinity House Accord.”
Heckler & Koch UK has conducted operations in Britain for over two decades, previously known as NSAF Limited, located at the Nottingham Small Arms Facility. During that tenure, the enterprise carried out significant modernization initiatives for the SA80 rifle, encompassing the A2 overhaul of approximately 200,000 armaments and the successive A3 enhancement. The firm underwent a rebranding to Heckler & Koch (UK) Limited in March 2025.
The integration of Globe Engineering signifies a strategic transition from sustainment activities into fabrication, in congruence with broader endeavors to reinforce autonomous defence industrial capacity within the UK.
Globe Engineering contributes over four decades of expertise in aerospace and military precision engineering, coupled with AS9100D and UKAS certifications. The enterprise retains 26 personnel and excels in high-accuracy machining for intricate parts.
This initiative arises amidst a heightened focus on supply chain robustness and internal manufacturing capability within British defence strategy, especially in sectors associated with crucial competencies and global collaborations.
