The Department of Defense has released an agreement award announcement regarding the acquisition of the Callen-Lenz Nyan One-Way Effector (OWE), an initiative it asserts will bolster the long-range strike capacity for British forces participating in Operation Cabrit.

Disclosed on February 17th, this agreement was granted through a direct awarding process, falling under the Defence and Security protocol. The transaction is priced at £4,996,500 excluding VAT (£5,995,800 including VAT) and was conferred upon Callen-Lenz Associates Limited, headquartered in Chilmark, Wiltshire.

As per the communiqué, the MOD has “poured considerable resources” into fostering and obtaining the Nyan OWE, a system that has already undergone trials and validation by other MOD divisions and was previously acquired by the Army. The OWE initiative now seeks to integrate this established platform into more extensive application by the Field Army.

The Ministry of Defence declared the Nyan to be the unique commercially available solution of this category listed on the Military Aviation Registry, having undergone a UK MOD Article 36 legal scrutiny and incorporating standard government-provided gear. Furthermore, it highlighted that this positions it as the single practical alternative for quick induction into operation “for reasons of safety and legal conformity”.

The determination date for the grant is specified as 16 February 2026, accompanied by a waiting period extending to February 26th. The earliest possible date for the pact’s endorsement is 2 March 2026. This agreement is anticipated to span from 2 March 2026 to 31 March 2026, encompassing a duration of thirty days.
