SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors are poised to commence play after the All-Star break this Thursday evening without their renowned guard, Stephen Curry, as the duration of his continued unavailability remains uncertain against the Boston Celtics.

Conversely, in a more favorable development for the Warriors, their prominent new acquisition, Kristaps Porzingis, is anticipated to make his initial appearance for the squad against the Celtics. While officially designated as questionable, Porzingis informed journalists that he felt “ready to go.”

Before the hiatus, Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, had voiced hope that the inflammation and discomfort in Curry’s right knee would subside, potentially allowing him to be cleared for Thursday evening’s game. However, upon his return to the team’s premises on Wednesday evening, Curry informed the medical personnel that his “runner’s knee” was not yet prepared to participate in a live scrimmage.

“He simply wasn’t at the required level,” Kerr remarked. “It is regrettable. Further information will be provided tomorrow subsequent to his session with the medical team.”

Kerr indicated that Curry might undergo an additional MRI scan following a discussion with Rick Celebrini, who serves as the squad’s principal medical authority. Currently, Celebrini is in Milan, observing his son Macklin compete for Team Canada in Olympic hockey.

Curry was absent from the preceding five contests prior to the All-Star recess, as continuous discomfort and inflammation necessitated his temporary sideline.

“We must be assured,” Kerr stated. “He, too, needs certainty… The situation remains somewhat ambiguous, but such is the characteristic of this particular ailment.”

On February 5th, Curry informed ESPN that his right knee showed signs of improvement, however, he would maintain prudence before making a comeback.

“One must endeavor to eliminate all inflammation and discomfort,” Curry articulated. “It is an issue that necessitates ongoing observation and careful management,” he added, “for if I return prematurely, it risks exacerbation.”

Porzingis was acquired from Atlanta at the final date for trades, in an exchange where Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield were sent to the Hawks. His appearances this season were restricted to just 17 contests owing to both sickness and Achilles tendon inflammation. Nevertheless, he collaborated with the Warriors’ medical team during the recess and participated in a practice game with the squad on Wednesday evening.

Kerr stated that the intention is to deploy Porzingis in brief intervals and with comparatively restricted playing time during his initial period with the team. He is expected to enter the game as a reserve against the Celtics, his previous squad, alongside Al Horford, his current colleague who was also a former teammate in Boston.

“Unusual,” Porzingis commented regarding playing against the Celtics. “Who would have imagined this? However, this is the nature of the situation. Evidently, we anticipated Boston making some alterations related to financial matters, yet it will certainly feel peculiar.”

Kerr has indicated an intention to highlight Porzingis in offensive strategies. For the past two days, the squad dedicated efforts to optimizing spacing for Porzingis’ post-up plays. Porzingis expressed his fondness for the straightforwardness of their offensive scheme and found pleasure in collaborating with Draymond Green during Wednesday’s practice game.

“I truly admire Draymond,” Porzingis declared. “It is evident to me his significance to this collective.”

The Warriors currently hold a record of 29 wins and 26 losses, placing them eighth in the Western Conference rankings at present.
