The Department of Defense intends to grant an agreement valued at a maximum of £17.5 million to Janes Group UK Limited, allowing entry to military intelligence repositories and evaluative instruments.
Defence Digital aims to institute a streamlined three-year corporate pact with Janes, encompassing software permits which allow use of the firm’s publicly available intelligence (OSINT) data repositories, classification systems, and analytical instruments. This accord shall serve as the means by which permits may be acquired throughout the duration of the pact.
As per the acquisition announcement, the agreement is anticipated to be active from March 2026 until March 2029, and shall assist military personnel who depend on in-depth open-source examination of worldwide military prowess and hardware spanning aerial, terrestrial, maritime, and cosmic realms.
The agreement is being granted via a sole-source procurement process. The Defence Ministry stated this choice was warranted due to the fact that Janes holds the intellectual rights and exclusive data repositories forming the foundation of the service, and that no suitable competing vendors offer comparable scope.
The announcement indicated that Janes furnishes what it termed as the sole exhaustive unclassified data collection of technical insights into worldwide military hardware, coupled with related methods and categorisation frameworks employed to structure and scrutinize military information. Janes, with its main office in Croydon, issues military intelligence, assessments, and data archives utilized by administrations, armed forces, and sectors globally.
