An increasing count of billionaires, chief executives, and significant corporations are shifting their operations from blue states to red states. They often cite more favorable tax policies, less stringent regulatory frameworks, and a more welcoming commercial environment as key motivators.
This phenomenon has accelerated in the past few years, showing no distinct indications of abating.
A number of prominent enterprises have either recently relocated or declared intentions to transfer their main corporate offices:
Palantir Technologies

The technology firm declared in February that it had transferred its principal office from Denver to Miami.
ExxonMobil
The energy behemoth stated this week its departure from New Jersey and its reincorporation in Texas, highlighting the state’s business-friendly legal landscape following years of contentious legal battles.
Public Storage
The organization revealed last month its plan to shift its corporate hub from Glendale, California, to Frisco, Texas, concluding a half-century presence in California.
Yamaha Motor Co.

SpaceX and X
The space exploration firm and the social media platform relocated their principal offices from California to Texas, Elon Musk confirmed in 2024, citing policy-related concerns.
Tesla

Oracle

Larry Ellison’s tech entity announced in 2024 its relocation of its principal office to Nashville, Tennessee. The company had previously transferred its main base from California to Texas in 2020, as reported by Fortune.

Concurrently, some other enterprises are expanding their presence rather than undergoing full relocations.

Peter Thiel

Stephen Ross
The originator of Related Companies and proprietor of the Miami Dolphins, relocated his primary residence from New York to Florida, as reported by the New York Post.
Mark Zuckerberg
The Meta CEO and his spouse, Priscilla Chan, have reportedly finalized the purchase of an expansive Miami-area estate for a sum slightly below the initial $200 million asking price.
Sergey Brin
The co-founder of Google also reportedly completed the acquisition of a $51 million property in northern Miami Beach recently.
Elon Musk

Florida, which imposes no state income levy, has become a significant magnet for affluent individuals.
Lawmakers in California are also contemplating new taxes designed to target the ultra-rich. A proposed ballot initiative for 2026 would implement a one-time 5% tax on individuals possessing more than $1 billion.
