Following more than a decade since Apple initially collaborated with Hermès on an exclusive Apple Watch project, the prestigious French manufacturer has unveiled a fresh assortment of leather-clad power accessories for Apple’s portable gadgets. The top-tier offering is a wireless charger for multiple gadgets, housed within an enclosure crafted from the marque’s distinctive golden-hued calfskin, and is priced at $5,150. To put this in perspective, a 14-inch MacBook Pro has a starting price of $1,699.
On the opposite side of the pricing scale for this collection – though by no means inexpensive – we find the $1,250 Hermès Paddock Solo charger, which includes a wireless charging disc enveloped in the identical calfskin material and embellished with equestrian-style stitching. Hermès does not specify the charger’s speed; however, it indicates that “a power input of no less than 20W is necessary,” implying it could potentially handle a power transfer exceeding 15W. Despite the fact that a 3.3-foot USB-C cable comes supplied, Hermès omits to include a charging brick alongside any of the opulent offerings within this fresh assortment.
The cost escalates from this point. A $1,750 reversible wireless power device, dubbed the Paddock Yoyo, is capable of powering either the Apple Watch or other Qi-enabled portable gadgets upon reversal. An adjacent option, known as the Paddock Duo, allows for wireless charging of a pair of gadgets concurrently for an equivalent sum. Each of these three charging devices may be acquired alongside leather carrying cases in diverse dimensions, the most substantial of these being the $5,150 Grand Paddock. All of them provide additional space for transporting peripherals, such as cords and the necessary power supply unit, yet the Grand Paddock grants the maximum storage.
