Highlighting concerns regarding the U.S.’s reliance on Chinese drones and AI rivalry, Gatestone Institute senior fellow Gordon Chang appears on ‘Mornings with Maria’ to discuss China’s escalating submarine production and its endorsement of Iran.
Gordon Chang, on Thursday, implored the United States to regard China as a “hostile belligerent,” cautioning that Chinese submarines are navigating “in close proximity” to U.S. territory as Beijing allegedly broadens its subaquatic presence.
“Evidently, they do aim for submarines to approach the U.S. more closely,” the Gatestone Institute senior fellow stated to “Mornings with Maria.”
“Furthermore, we have Chinese submarines operating in the Arctic, which would be extremely near Alaska and our national territory. This is, therefore, a truly significant occurrence, and it is imperative that we ensure we possess the attack subs capable of neutralizing those ballistic missile submarines of the Chinese.”

Chang’s caution follows a Wall Street Journal dispatch indicating that the U.S.’s opponent is “advancing new submarine technology and a more substantial, enhanced naval force that is closing the gap with the United States and its partners.”
His warning also coincides with China’s intention to dispatch a particular emissary to the Middle East for what Beijing characterizes as peacemaking endeavors, as combined U.S.-Israeli assaults persist against Iranian government locations.

“That emissary will attempt to hinder the United States from striking Iran,” Chang cautioned.
“Evidently, what we should be doing is disregarding this individual. The Chinese are a hostile belligerent. That is how we ought to deal with them.”
Chang contended that Beijing is not serving as an impartial mediator, but rather as a principal supporter of Tehran, purportedly providing armament parts while augmenting raw material acquisitions and extending diplomatic and promotional aid.

“Therefore, the United States simply must declare, ‘Look, we aim to halt this.’ We also have to levy penalties against China.”
