On Saturday, Israel initiated aerial bombardments targeting Iran; tremendous blasts shook Tehran and plumes of smoke ascended in the vicinity of the Iranian presidential headquarters.

“The nation of Israel executed a preventive assault on Iran aimed at neutralizing dangers to the Israeli state,” declared Israel Katz, the country’s defense minister, in a communiqué.

“Consequently, an assault involving missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles targeting Israel and its populace is anticipated very soon.”

Reports from Iranian news outlets indicated blasts occurred across Tehran’s central, northern, and eastern sectors. Footage from ISNA, a semi-governmental press agency, depicted plumes of smoke ascending on Pastor street, the site of the presidential bureau.

Israel closed off its aerial territory and placed limitations on public assemblies nationwide, activating alarms to advise citizens to remain near protective havens.

These assaults occurred after several weeks of heightened strain, during which US President Donald Trump endeavored to exert influence on Iran regarding its atomic initiatives, commanding the most substantial American military deployment in the area since the 2003 Iraq conflict and vowing to initiate attacks against Iran should it fail to consent to an accord.

Whether the United States participated in the Israeli offensive remained unclear at the time.
