O’Leary Ventures chairman Kevin O’Leary examines Elon Musk’s consolidation of xAI and SpaceX to create a significant technological powerhouse valued at more than $1 trillion on ‘The Bottom Line.’

A U.S. magistrate in San Francisco reportedly dedicated over five hours Thursday endeavoring to select a panel of jurors in Elon Musk’s forthcoming collective litigation from shareholders, with potential panel members expressing pronounced unfavorable opinions regarding the wealthy business magnate.

Out of a group of 93 individuals, merely nine panel members were chosen following thorough interrogation concerning their ability to disregard individual sentiments about Musk, as reported by Bloomberg Law.

Federal District Court Judge Charles Breyer stated that locating individuals devoid of an opinion about Musk — famed for heading X, Tesla and SpaceX — would prove almost unfeasible.

“He resembles the nation’s president; I could scour the whole country,” Breyer said. “Being a prominent personality, he is bound to provoke intense opinions, and specifically concerning him, individuals hold fervent beliefs.”

Almost 40 potential panel members were promptly excused upon stating their inability to maintain objectivity, Bloomberg Law reported.

One person articulated his objection “to the presence of immensely wealthy individuals.”

A different individual stated her strong dislike for Musk’s act of dismissing content moderators subsequent to his acquisition of Twitter.

A third asserted that, were the matter a criminal one, he would perceive a “duty of conscience” to find Musk guilty.

Every one of them was discharged, as reported by Bloomberg Law.

Musk’s legal counsel, Stephen Broome, of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, observed the extensive prevalence of animosity.

“There are so many individuals within the jury pool who harbor such intense animosity towards him that we are growing accustomed to it,” Broome said.

Nevertheless, not every fervent viewpoint was unfavorable concerning Musk.

A single potential juror characterized him as an “exceptionally intelligent scholar” who has aided humankind. She, too, was excused, as reported by the media source.

As Thursday concluded, panel members, encompassing a sales professional, a mechanical engineering specialist, and a university information technology employee, had been chosen.

The proceedings, set to commence on March 2, focuses on allegations by investors that Musk contravened financial regulations in 2022 by openly hesitating on his pact to acquire Twitter, purportedly causing a decline in the firm’s share value amidst discussions.

Musk could give evidence throughout the approximate three-week hearing, in addition to the erstwhile CEO of Twitter, Parag Agrawal.
