Consumers across America are being advised to inspect their freezers, as almost 37 million pounds of frozen food items are being recalled amid worries they could be contaminated with glass fragments.
Ajinomoto Foods North America has enlarged the previous month's recall, now encompassing an additional 33,617,045 pounds of frozen prepared and unprepared chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shumai dumpling items, as per a declaration published Tuesday by the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The Oregon-headquartered firm initially declared on Feb. 20 that it was withdrawing 3,370,530 pounds of frozen chicken fried rice goods. Following this enlargement, the overall sum now reaches 36,987,575 pounds.

The expanded withdrawal comprises well-known frozen articles vended under the brand names Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei, and Trader Joe’s, FSIS announced.
Among the affected merchandise are Ajinomoto Tokyo Style Shoyu (Soy Sauce) Ramen With Chicken, Ajinomoto Fried Rice Authentic Japanese Style, Kroger Chinese Inspirations Chicken Fried Rice, Ling Ling Restaurant Style Fried Rice Yakitori Chicken, Tai Pei Chicken Fried Rice, Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice, and Trader Joe’s Chicken Shu Mai, along with others.
The withdrawn items were manufactured between Oct. 21, 2024, and Feb. 26, 2026, and possess best-by dates ranging from Feb. 28, 2026, through Aug. 19, 2027. They also bear establishment numbers P-18356, P-18356B, or P-47971.

The articles were disseminated to retail outlets nationwide. Some Ajinomoto-branded goods were additionally dispatched to Canada and Mexico, according to FSIS.
The withdrawal was initiated after the corporation received numerous consumer complaints reporting fragments of glass within the food.
“Upon further inquiry, the establishment ascertained that a plant-based component, specifically carrots, was the probable origin of the glass contamination, which similarly impacted the supplementary products subject to this broadened recall,” FSIS declared.
There have been no verified accounts of ailments linked to the withdrawn products, a spokesperson for Ajinomoto Foods informed FOX Business.

Patrons who acquired the impacted items are cautioned not to consume them and should instead discard them or return them to the store for a reimbursement.
“As a matter of abundant prudence, we have broadened our voluntary withdrawal for specific frozen products that might contain glass,” the spokesperson stated. “… We are dedicated to upholding the utmost safety benchmarks, and we persist in collaborating closely with the USDA.”
