According to federal authorities, Toyota has issued a recall for 550,007 automobiles due to a problem with the seat-back’s locking mechanism.
This withdrawal pertains to 420,771 Highlander and 129,236 Highlander Hybrid units, encompassing model years 2021 through 2024, as per an advisory submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“Second-row seat backs might not secure correctly when adjusting the seat back,” the advisory indicated.

The advisory stated that if a seat back is not firmly fixed in a latched state, it might not adequately secure passengers, thereby elevating the danger of harm should a collision occur at elevated velocities.

According to NHTSA, every proprietor of the impacted automobiles will be advised to bring their car to a Toyota dealer. The dealership shall substitute the recoil springs in the reclining mechanisms with enhanced versions, at no cost.
Proprietor advisories are anticipated for dispatch during April.
Furthermore, Toyota summoned back approximately 141,000 Prius and Prius Prime units in the previous month, subsequent to finding that rear doors may unexpectedly swing open when the vehicle is in motion.
