The United Kingdom and Turkey have inked a multi-billion-pound accord for instruction and backing concerning Typhoon combat aircraft. This agreement propels the broader overseas trade pact established the preceding year, while also broadening the initiative to encompass aviator instruction, upkeep assistance, and enduring preservation, as reported by the administration.

This accord will facilitate the instruction of 10 Turkish aviators and approximately 100 ground staff technicians within the United Kingdom. Their training will span competencies in mechanical engineering, aerospace electronics, weaponry, and operational systems. Furthermore, it encompasses replacement components, auxiliary gear, simulation devices, and upkeep operations engaging British enterprises, such as BAE Systems, Leonardo UK, MBDA, Rolls-Royce, and Martin-Baker.

This transaction constitutes a segment of the larger Typhoon foreign sales initiative unveiled in October 2025. It offers a crucial subsequent aspect, extending past aircraft manufacturing, by connecting instruction provided in the UK and industrial assistance to Turkey’s impending deployment of the system.

Cabinet members affirmed that this undertaking would aid in preserving employment throughout the United Kingdom’s Typhoon provision network, encompassing manufacturing operations in Lancashire, Scotland, and Bristol. Over one-third of every aerospace vehicle is constructed within Britain, with the ultimate fitting together of the Turkish combat aircraft slated to occur at BAE Systems facilities in Warton and Samlesbury, as per governmental sources.

The Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey, declared that the accord propels the broader overseas sales scheme into its subsequent stage. “This collaboration not only dispatches superior British-manufactured aircraft globally, but it also forges coalitions, boosts our financial standing, and fortifies NATO,” he commented. He further stated: “Turkey’s choice to procure Typhoon signifies a testament of trust in British manufacturing and British employment, and this pact actualizes the UK-Turkey alliance.”

BAE Systems likewise presented the compact as a more expansive defence collaboration connected to deployment preparedness. This was articulated by Simon Barnes, Group Managing Director for BAE Systems’ Air division, within the official government declaration: “We are pleased to assume a pivotal function in elevating Turkey’s preparedness to utilize the fresh aircraft via this instructional and backing arrangement with the British administration.”
