MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Zach Edey, the Memphis Grizzlies’ center, is slated to undergo another surgical procedure on his problematic left ankle.
Standing 7-foot-3, Edey has been out of action since December 7th, due to an ankle stress reaction. Across 11 games in his sophomore season, he has posted averages of 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks.
The team indicates that Edey’s forthcoming procedure is anticipated to alleviate persistent discomfort and bone strain. Furthermore, he underwent surgery on the same left ankle in June, following his selection to the All-Rookie first team.
Edey, at 23 years old, and a two-time AP National Player of the Year during his tenure at Purdue, had previously sat out 12 contests at the outset of his debut season due to a sprained left ankle.
The Grizzlies stated that Edey is projected for a complete recuperation, with a specific schedule for his return to be announced subsequent to his operation.
Additionally, the squad mentioned that forward Brandon Clarke will undergo reassessment in roughly two weeks. Clarke, aged 29, has been inactive since December 20th, owing to a pulled right calf muscle.
