Lammens’ displays have garnered considerable notice.
Despite flourishing amidst the demanding physical nature of being a Premier League goalkeeper, Senne Lammens remains discontent with the robust beginning to his Manchester United tenure.
Lammens has made a positive impact since his transfer to Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp; however, his clean sheet during United’s 1-0 triumph at Everton on Monday marked only his fifth of the current season.
Nevertheless, Lammens’ contribution in that particular match was highlighted by his composure while facing an aerial onslaught from the home side. The Belgian distinguished himself by consistently handling the physical intensity presented by opponents vying for possession in the penalty area.
His steadfastness has been crucial to United’s recent improvement under interim manager Michael Carrick. The victory at the Hill-Dickinson Stadium propelled the Red Devils into fourth position, prior to Sunday’s encounter with Crystal Palace.
While Lammens acknowledges that the physicality can occasionally become excessive, he believes such challenges align well with his inherent strengths.
“It has been this way throughout the season. For me, it is simply how things are. This is the Premier League,” stated Lammens, who addressed journalists during a visit to Partington Central Academy Primary School ahead of World Book Day.
“It also involves physical confrontations and a degree of battle within the 16-yard box. This also happens to be one of my strong suits, so I sometimes appreciate the test.”

“Certainly, it can get to be too much at times, but everyone must cope with it. It’s not as if only one team employs these tactics… and as a goalkeeper, you need to adapt to it and practice accordingly to improve. I believe I’ve managed it effectively, so I will persist in doing so.”
“It has consistently been somewhat of a strength for me, always, even in Belgium where it’s less physical, but the fundamental principles remain identical.”
“You need to possess a certain stature and not be easily displaced. In terms of power, you always aspire to be superior and perform as optimally as possible. Therefore, my physical attributes are advantageous for these kinds of scenarios.”
Lammens Expresses Dissatisfaction with Manchester United Beginning
The promising aspect for United is Lammens’ clear potential for considerable development.
His clean sheet percentage of 23.8 ranks 12th among 22 Premier League goalkeepers who have participated in at least 10 matches this campaign. Although this figure also reflects United’s defensive efforts, Lammens’ save ratio is likewise unimpressive.
Indeed, Lammens is tied for 13th with a save rate of 66.7 per cent, having repelled 48 out of the 72 shots on target directed at him.
And, even as United enjoys success on the pitch, Lammens maintains that he has much to demonstrate.
“I mentioned a few weeks ago that I couldn’t envision things progressing any better, but I prefer not to dwell too much on past events,” he further stated.
“I mean, it’s excellent, but I still have to prove my worth every week. I am not content with it. I am pleased that it went well, but this is not the ultimate goal.”
