In Inglewood, California — Stephen Curry disclosed via NBC on Sunday that he is set to rejoin the long-range shooting contest the following year in Phoenix.
Likely encouraged by witnessing his veteran colleague, Damian Lillard, secure a win in the Los Angeles event, Curry revealed the news amidst the All-Star showcase, an event he missed due to a knee ailment. Furthermore, Curry expressed his aim to persuade his former teammate, Klay Thompson, to participate with him in the competition.
Curry last emerged triumphant in the competition in 2021 in Atlanta, marking his most recent involvement, following his win in 2015 in New York. Thompson, for his part, was victorious in 2016 in Toronto.
On Saturday, Lillard achieved the distinction of being the third individual to secure three long-range shooting titles, a milestone Curry could also attain by claiming one more win.
Curry stands as the NBA’s historical frontrunner for successful long-range shots and has topped the league in this specific area on eight occasions throughout his professional tenure. For the current season, his shooting percentage from beyond the arc stands at 39.1%.
