The 2025 Topps Chrome two-MVP golden Logoman trading card, showcasing patches donned during games and sourced from Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani’s uniforms — a unique, singular item autographed directly on the card by the reigning MVPs — was acquired through Fanatics Collect for a sum of $2.16 million.
This item ranks as the fourth priciest contemporary (generally defined as from 1980 to the current era) baseball collectible disposed of via public sale.
This collectible originates from a partnership involving Topps, MLB, and Nike, focusing on recipients of MLB accolades, which was initiated twelve months prior. A singular, autographed Ohtani card, also bearing a patch from this initiative, fetched $3 million last December; only that particular card, the Mike Trout rookie card valued at $3.936 million, and the Judge card, which sold for $5.2 million merely a week ago — representing the highest price ever achieved for a contemporary baseball card — stand as the sole modern baseball cards to surpass the $3 million mark in a public sale.
“[The program] was initiated to address our constant pursuit of: Genuine authenticity, especially concerning the patch material,” Kevin Lenane, Fanatics Collect’s head of market operations, informed ESPN. “We have items donned by players, worn during specific matches, and patches linked to particular occurrences. A unique allure exists in a collector forging a bond with the moment via these tangible components.”
The Ohtani/Judge card showcases patches utilized during contests from the 2025 season. As per the item’s listing on Fanatics Collect, the patch attributed to Ohtani was sourced from a uniform he sported on May 26 during a game versus the Cleveland Guardians, in which he achieved his 19th home run of that season. Judge’s patch originated from a match on May 30 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he recorded a double and, by chance, also his 19th long ball of the year.
Commencing in 2022, Ohtani and Judge have each secured three Most Valuable Player accolades. Ohtani, who additionally earned one in 2021, ranks second overall, trailing only Barry Bonds (with 7), whereas Judge shares this distinction with ten other individuals who have earned the MVP title thrice: Yogi Berra, Roy Campanella, Joe DiMaggio, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Mike Schmidt and Mike Trout.
Lenane notes that there is currently an “unprecedented number of collectors,” among them athletes who acquire both their personal memorabilia and that of fellow sports figures.
“Athletes are cognizant that these artifacts will be integrated into a card, and I’ve observed that nearly every sportsperson — ranging from collegiate novices to freshly debuted professionals to established luminaries — expresses keen interest in the methodology and destination of their keepsakes,” Lenane stated. “Athletes possess significant awareness regarding their inaugural patches; this has become an inherent element of a sportsperson’s journey presently, and their fascination stems from the remarkable performance of the market.”
