A Sonos audio device, provisionally named ‘Play’ and still unrevealed, was discovered on Best Buy’s Canadian web portal. This Sonos Play appears to be a somewhat miniaturized iteration of the Move 2, featuring a rear handle designed for effortless portability. Despite lacking official confirmation, its advertised price is CAD $399.99, with a projected launch on March 31st, 2026. Beyond its Wi-Fi capabilities, enabling multi-room Sonos configurations for as many as 32 units, it also boasts compatibility with AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 5.3. Furthermore, an auxiliary input is included, allowing connections to devices such as record players or alternative sound gear.
The Best Buy advertisement highlights Trueplay, a feature that automatically optimizes the audio output to suit its specific surroundings. In contrast to the Move, the Play is stated to possess an IP67 certification, guaranteeing waterproof and dustproof performance, akin to the Sonos Roam. Moreover, its power endurance is specified as 24 hours, and the Sonos Play comes bundled with a wireless charging dock. Allegedly, it can also serve as a portable charger, replenishing your phone’s battery via USB-C.
Should the projected launch date prove correct, Sonos will presumably make a formal announcement about this device very soon.
