Samsung’s AI Ad Deluge: Swamping Social Feeds

Samsung, having already embedded AI deeply within its mobile phones, home gadgets, and various other electronics, is now progressively deploying it across social media platforms. Over the past few weeks, numerous clips uploaded to the firm’s YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok profiles, including its newest preview for the anticipated Galaxy S26 lineup, were crafted or refined with generative AI instruments.

The clip titled “Brighten your after hours” showcases two individuals skateboarding after dark, purportedly demonstrating the low-light video performance of the forthcoming Galaxy S26 gadgets. While a disclaimer emerges at the foot of the screen near the video’s conclusion, indicating it was “produced with the aid of AI tools,” clear indicators are present even without this revelation. For instance, the shopping bags brimming with vegetables appear synthetic and unnaturally heavy, and the street’s cobblestones seem to move.

While a comparable AI attribution is featured in the majority of these clips, YouTube and Instagram conspicuously have not appended their own AI markers to the “Brighten your after hours” footage. This is despite Google, Meta, and Samsung having all embraced C2PA, the verification benchmark employed by the majority of AI labeling frameworks. We have contacted Samsung, Meta, and Google to solicit their remarks.
