Mere days prior to turning 49, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has declared his intention to conclude his retirement and recommence his career as a professional boxer following his Spring 2026 pugilistic display alongside Mike Tyson.

Mayweather has entered into a sole pact with CSI Sports/Fight Sports to serve as his fight promoter.

“I possess the enduring capability to establish additional benchmarks within the realm of pugilism,” Mayweather conveyed in a declaration provided to ESPN. “Ranging from my forthcoming Mike Tyson encounter to my subsequent professional bout — no individual will command a greater gate revenue, draw a more extensive worldwide broadcast viewership, nor amass more substantial earnings per occurrence than my engagements. Furthermore, I intend to persist in these endeavors alongside my international media collaborator, CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS.”

Mayweather withdrew from pugilism at forty years old following his August 2017 victory via knockout against MMA luminary Conor McGregor, thereby achieving an unblemished record of 50-0, including 27 triumphs by stoppage. Subsequent to that, he has participated in numerous exhibition bouts against figures such as Logan Paul, Mikuru Asakura, and John Gotti III.

A declaration was made last September that Mayweather and Tyson were slated to confront each other in a display bout in Spring 2026. Accounts have surfaced suggesting the contest is scheduled for April 25 in the Democratic Republic of Congo; however, ESPN was unable to secure verification regarding that specific date for the fight, and no broadcaster has yet been designated to televise the event.

Mayweather has garnered media attention during recent weeks due to his initiation of a multi-million-dollar legal action against Showtime earlier in the current month. He asserts that a minimum of $340 million is due to him from his reported $1.2 billion in professional fight earnings throughout his career.

Prior to his withdrawal from the sport, Floyd Mayweather Jr., right, enhanced his record to an unblemished 50-0 during his ultimate officially recognized professional bout by securing a 10th-round cessation against MMA luminary Conor McGregor on August 26, 2017, held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Christian Petersen/Getty Images

Mayweather’s re-entry would place him in a discipline featuring an entirely fresh cohort of contenders, many of whom are roughly half his age. Nonetheless, Manny Pacquiao’s recent recommencement in the professional sphere intimates that a frequently discussed second encounter between the two pugilists, subsequent to their 2015 bout, might materialize as an official professional boxing contest.

“Securing Floyd Mayweather’s agreement to emerge from retirement, following his attraction of another vast worldwide viewership with his Mike Tyson confrontation, underscores our dedication to presenting our international spectators with the most eminent combatants in the sport,” Richard and Craig Miele, co-founders of CSI Sports™/FIGHT SPORTS®, communicated in a declaration. “Floyd is poised to once more assert his supremacy in pugilism, drawing the largest audiences and generating the most lucrative events ever recorded, and we are honored and fortunate to achieve this alongside our international collective at CSI Sports™/FIGHT SPORTS®. We eagerly anticipate further declarations that will invigorate enthusiasts and further cultivate the sport throughout 2026!”
