U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy appears on ‘Mornings with Maria’ to address TSA delays, as President Donald Trump mulls compelling Congress to reconvene and settle the DHS budget shortfall.

Alaska Airlines aims for upscale international passengers with an enhanced business class offering, concurrently broadening its presence across Europe and Asia.

On Tuesday, the airline revealed its completely revamped international business class service, scheduled to launch this spring aboard its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The carrier stated that this service will include fully reclining seats, superior dining, high-quality bedding, and selected comforts.

“When we introduce our latest offering this spring, it will elevate standards and transform extended journeys, while maintaining our provision of the exceptional service that distinguishes Alaska in the international arena,” Andrew Harrison, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines, declared.

Central to this updated service are individual sleeping compartments, featuring personal partitions and unrestricted corridor entry.

Each seat transforms into a sleeping surface and comes equipped with an 18-inch HD display, cordless power, sound-dampening headsets, and a vast collection of over 1,500 films and series.

The airline is also highlighting its in-flight culinary offerings.

Menus will differ according to destination, presenting meals like pasta carbonara with oven-baked poultry for Rome flights, and gochujang chicken for routes to Incheon.

The meal service commences with an enhanced fruit and cheese assortment, alongside a choice of wines, champagne, cocktails, and artisan beer.

Dishes before landing are customized for each destination, while dessert features Salt & Straw ice cream.

Further enhancements encompass linens created in collaboration with Pacific Northwest brand Filson, and amenity kits containing dermatological items and journey necessities.

Travelers utilizing International business class will have entry into Alaska’s terminal waiting areas, in addition to Oneworld alliance member facilities globally. Elite frequent flyers will also be admitted to certain international first-class lounges.

Alaska intends to outfit its Dreamliner collection of aircraft with SpaceX’s Starlink internet in the coming months.

This introduction coincides with Alaska increasing its global presence from Seattle, with routes to Rome commencing April 28, then London on May 21, and Reykjavík, Iceland, on May 28. Flights to Seoul are scheduled to commence in April, with Tokyo service anticipated later this year.

The reveal occurs while the airline projected a larger first-quarter deficit due to increasing aviation fuel costs and a decline in patronage, stemming from disturbances in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and inundation in Hawaii.

In a mandated report on Monday, the airline stated that increasing fuel costs constitute an additional per-share profit challenge of at least 70 cents.

Stock in Alaska Air Group concluded Wednesday’s market day having gained 2.3%, though they have decreased over 25% since the start of the year.
